Newborn lifestyle photography involves both the baby individually and family together. A newborn lifestyle session does not involve any type of props provided by Malorie or formal posing of the newborn individually. Instead, I will coach through family poses and capture candid images while focusing on the new bond between you and your family.
Yes! The only two items I will be bringing to your session are a white wrap and my newborn beanbag. I will wrap your infant at the beginning of your session and will photograph your baby individually on the bean bag for all close up shots.
I recommend having your maternity session within the 28 to 32 weeks of your pregnancy. I recommend having your newborn session within the 2 weeks of baby being born. It is important to have your session within this window because your child is more sleepy during this time in life and we want him or her asleep if possible.
If your child does come weeks earlier, we will schedule your session around your child's original due date. If you have a caesarean delivery, I recommend having your session closer to the 2 week mark, so the mother can recover. I completely understand that things change and delivery can have its own plans, so if we need to be flexible on your date, we will change if needed.
For your newborn session, I recommend having your session in your home or in an indoor studio. If you’d love an in-home session and love my light and airy style, I would make sure you have lots of natural light in the main room that you’d love your session in. If you feel you do not have enough or no natural light, I highly recommend us renting a studio. I have wonderful studio options that are perfect for that.
As a courtesy to my incredible clients, I have curated a collection of dresses that flatter pregnant and postpartum bodies beautifully. When you book your sessions with Malorie Jane Photography, you are able to borrow one or two gowns at no additional cost to you!
Dresses are available in sizes M-XL. Because a majority of my gowns are non-maternity dresses, I suggest sizing up one size from your pre-pregnancy size and we can clip dresses if needed. For example, if your pre-pregnancy size was Small, size Medium will likely fit you the best right now.
You should expect around 50 images for a 60 minute session. I love delivering my family’s files quickly and easily via an online gallery. You will have the ability to print, share, and download your images as much as you want. I believe in freely sharing my work because that is what I would want if I were in your shoes!
